What is good to use around the house for the big black ants?

I use Terro products. They make a several products that are quite good. Do identify the ants and be sure they aren't damaging your home. Find where they are coming from and fill holes and get to the nest)s).
Ants leave a pheromone trail and their little friends follow it. Spray these areas to discourage re-entry. (I use 20 drops cinnamon oil, a squirt of dish soap, 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol, 1 1/2 cups of water in a spray bottle.) Leave it a few minutes and then wipe it up.
Sometimes a professional service is the way to go.

I sprinkled red cayenne pepper around wherever I saw them. Haven't seen any since!
