Hi Lisa, really you should, if you want your plant to keep setting new flowers for blooming. It takes awhile though; I love petunia plants but they take a bit of time to clean!
Unfortunately it's one of the drawbacks of having petunias. They are beautiful, but the spent flowers do need to be removed.
