How do I add a tiled shower?

I recently purchased an older home and my master bathroom has a shower only. I can live with that but I must get rid of the dated shower stall. My nephew has a new construction home and one of his bathrooms has a fully tiled shower. I love it and want to do that in my home. My space is smaller so I believe I can tackle it myself with the proper know how. Thank you

The hardest is installing the shower pan to the correct angles to drain. Be sure to look at several tutorial videos on installing a tiled shower pan and floor and ALWAYS use concrete board behind tile, not just green board.

Kelli is spot on for research. Do your homework on drains as well. The cement board is screwed into the wall. Then you glue the tile in place with a mastik, I would recommend pre-mixed. You can purchase self spacing tile or purchase spacers so that you lay them uniformly. Make sure you get the mastik out of the spaces before it dries. It's very difficult to remove afterwards. When laying tile on walls, we usually screw in randomly spaces to prevent sliding. This is especially true with 12" sheets of smaller tiles or heavy tiles. Once all the tile is laid and dried, grout. Then seal the grout.
