A good plunger should do the trick. Try putting some baking soda along with enough vinegar to get to the trap so that you can hear the fizzing. Let sit for a while to work and then flush.

We use the type of plunger that has several inch portion that actually fits into the pipes, then it's attached to a regular plunger. Just so you know, I hate toilet plungers and fly swatters, but sometimes you need them. After I use a plunger, it's stored with the head wrapped in several plastic bags to try and contain the grossness. Then I disinfect total bathroom.

There's no way of knowing if your plunging labor works, unless you actually see something being pulled back into bowl, or the bowl empties if water on its own. If no progress, try an unblocking product to try and dislodge the blockage. I like trying boiling water too, but my husband the plumber says boiling water will possibly damage pipes, depending on the material used.

Next step: buy a snake. It doesn't have to be the longest commercial snake available. But purchase a smaller less expensive snake that you can handle. You may need to extend snake several times to loosen blockage.

Be careful about doing test flushes. If it's not fixed, you can easily flood the bowl all over the floor. Check contents of blockage. See if someone is flushing items not allowed. Such as jewelry, tin foil, tampons, etc. Hope this helps.

We have a honey pond at the farm. So I simply use hot water from the bath tub and either dawn dish soap or no name dish soap. Use. At least 1/2 cup and let it sit. It will do it's own magic,! After all that use a good plunger but the dirt (you know,what l mean) will be gone. It works!. Good luck. The price is right too. I leave the soap in the bathroom now all the time.
