Cuckoo Clock Birdhouse

I'm going to show you how to turn a pre-made birdhouse into something amazing and one of a kind! I bought 3 birdhouses a while ago and wanted something totally different and out of the box with these and I definitely think I've achieved it. I have two on the wall in my kitchen and one hanging on the tree in my front yard and love them! I had everything for this project at home, except the birdhouses, but you can find any of the supplies at a craft store.

You can find these inexpensive pre-made birdhouses at most craft stores.

Paint them fun, bright colors using craft paint. I painted two coats on these for more vibrant colors. Be sure to let the paint dry completely.

Get some laser cut wood pieces and paint with craft paint.

Gather up game pieces, beads and other small items to decorate your birdhouse. I used game pieces to give my birdhouses numbers.

Glue the wood pieces and accessories on with a hot glue gun or permanent glue. I used permanent hot glue sticks for this project.

Pull out your ribbon collection for this next part!

Using my hot glue gun, I added bows, ribbons and small accessories to the bottom of my birdhouses.

I used command strips to hang these birdhouses inside.

You'll want to weatherproof the birdhouses that are going outside. I used Outdoor Mod Podge, but there are weatherproof sealer sprays also if that would be easier.

These Cuckoo Clock Birdhouses are so much fun to make and would make a great gift for new homeowners. You can customize them any way you want and I can guarantee you won't find the same one in any of your neighbors yards!

Ha! Ha! Great fun! Not sure the ribbon is going to hold up in the weather though. Cute!
