HI Margaret. Here are some great posts with lots of pros (and cons) about painting cement/concrete floors. Hope they help! https://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=painting%20cement%20floor%20outside
Paint will eventually peel. Where I live it gets scorching hot in summer. Preferred method is staining. It will fade over time, but easy to refresh when needed.
If you are painting concrete then you must use a floor paint for concrete. Clean the surface off with a muriatic acid. Be careful to protect your skin and eyes when cleaning. Rinse and Dry well before painting.
Needs done correctly to stay on;clean well with TSP,etched with muriatic acid, then prime with concrete/masonry primer, then paint with concrete/masonry paint, then seal ; the primer is key it keeps moisture from leeching thru cement which is why the paint lifts later. additional info. https://www.contractortalk.com/f94/painting-concrete-patio-35620/
