Does anyone have any ideas on how I can disguise an ugly drop ceiling?

You could try painting it a color other than white to make it feel less like a drop ceiling...
I have seen restaurants paint it black or a dark color. Try to put in some inset led lights or updated track lighting to give it a modern feel rather than big fluorescent rectangles in the ceiling.

I was thinking of embossed wallpaper that looks like old tin ceiling tiles, but that my be to much work. Thanks for the comment.
