There are lots of techniques out there. Look on pintress you tube and ask how to paint to look like,hardwood. You'll find a tutorial that works for you.

There is also a product called Weathered Wood Accelerator that reacts with new, unfinished wood to make it look grey. It is made by RustOleum/Varathane... I hope this helps, and good luck with your project!
Take a drive out to the country. There are lots of old sheds and outbuildings. If you see run down buildings falling apart, just ask the homeowner. Maybe you can work out a deal where if you take down the building, you can get the wood for free.
Depends of course how much wood you are looking for.
