How do I clean a brass door handle (exterior)?
The door handle (on my covered porch) is rough and pitted looking. Is there a safe way to clean it or should I replace it?

Unless it is an antique, I would just replace it. To do a proper job, you would need to remove it, sand it and repaint it. There are so many beautiful and affordable handles now ---- and a new one may change the whole look of the door for little money.
Tape off all around the handle if you do not wish to remove it with painters tape. Mix a small amount of flour, salt and vinegar in a bowl, and apply this mixture to your brass doorknobs using a soft, damp clothe to remove tough tarnish or other deposits. Treat brass hardware with paste wax or lemon oil once a month to prevent tarnishing and maintain the material's natural shine.
Thanks Em. I will do this in cooler weather.
