How can I clean an outdoor grill?

A while back I saw grill cleaning, putting grates in a plastic bag w/a solution. Don't know what it was but looked easy. Please help, thanks

We just take out racks, Spray down with oven cleaner, then hose off. If more is needed, soft scrub and a scrubby.
Ammonia.Place in large garbage bags an let them sit 24 hours.
