How to get old wax finish off of tiles?

when we bought our house someone had tried to wax the ceramic tiles in both the kitchen as well as the master bathe. Ive tried just about everything i can think of and at best all it does is sort of roll up in flacks all the wax. the last time I used peroxide and baking soda on the kitchen I spent weeks rewashing the floor and finally it all came up now I need to redo the grout its disgusting. but thats another question. does anyone have a better idea that wont take me weeks to wash and rewash the tiles? Id sure appreciate it.

Ammonia cleaning products were used back in the day to take wax off tiles and linoleum. I preferred Lemon Ammonia and also use Dollar Tree Awesome Orange in the half gallon is my new favorite.
Ammonia and scrub one section at a time may need to use steel wool to loosen easier. ----Mix 1/2 to 1 cup of ammonia and 1 cup of laundry detergent with 1 gallon of warm water in a bucket.

I got old wax off of linoleum floor. (We moved in to it also). I found out completely by accident. We had just had a new baby and in the middle of the night and bleary eyed and wiped out, I left a wet diaper on the floor. The next morn when I picked up the diaper there was a white spot where it had lain. Wallah! I immediately began laying towels down (2 or three) and pouring ammonia on them and waiting. Don't remember how long-- then with a wide paint scraper scraped the white wax up. I was surprised to see that the color was actually bright under there. You could put down as many towels or whatever you want to use. Make sure all the seams and corners are all covering the floor so you have no areas that didn't get covered and are the original wax finish. Good luck.
