All I have ever used was Dawn dish soap, a bucket of water and a garden hose. After it has dried thoroughly, I would use the OTC Scotchgard just to keep it as water repellant as possible.
Or if you have a steam cleaner. That should work too.
If you have upholstery cleaning sprays available in Queensland, I would try one of those. We have a number of products in the states in the home cleaning section in most large stores. You'll find them in auto repair stores, too. If a stain has gotten to the fabric, the Scotch Guard has worn off.
If you want a professional looking job and a clean sofa, then that is a job for professional upholstery cleaners. I wouldn't try store-bought products or home remedies on upholstery that is stained like that---a waste of your time, energy and money. Good luck!
