Have you tried grits? Sprinkle on top of the mound and they'll eat it. It will swell in their stomachs and kill them. Make sure you do it on a dry day though.

Diatomaceous earth but they have to come in contact with it.

In the yard, pour boiling water down the center of the mound (poke a hole in the mound and pour in).

These two work well in the house.

    For a spray:

    1/2 cup of rubbing lacohol

    1 1/2 cups of water

    20 drops of cinnamon oil

Mix together in a spray bottle (adjust recipe for the size of the bottle.) It kills them and removes the pheromone trail so they stop following each other.

    For a solid:

    1 cup powdered sugar

    1 cup of borax

    1 package of dry yeast

Sprinkle when they are coming in. Or where there are many ants congregating.

Mix 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. (It has to be powdered sugar.) Ants can't burp. They eat the baking soda along with the sugar and it expands in their stomachs. They will carry it back to the nest and eventually it will do the job. Just put some in a shallow container near where you see their trails. I did this for a while, and it worked, but my ant problem was so bad I finally went and got some Terro. That did the job.
