How do I clean old aluminum pots?

I have some old aluminum pots inherited from my mom that turn almost black when I boil water in them. Is there an easier way to make them shine again besides using an sos and a lot of elbow grease? Thanks for any suggestions.

Aluminium does that, not sure they ever go back. Try soaking in vinegar. Hopefully you aren't using them, several studies relating aluminium cookware to health issues.

Baking soda to scrub will remove but it will probably come back. You have to be careful with aluminum since it's porous.

    Hi Dora,

Due to research that discovered that aluminum pots can leach the mineral into our food, it would be best to clean them up and use them for kitchen decor. That wasn't known when your Mom used them but they know that now. I'd suggest using different pots. :( Wishing you the best.
