How can i get rid of mosquitoes in my backyard?

We are being over run with mosquitoes. We check for standing water and empty it. I heard a mixture of conola oil and water will help get rid of them and is safe for plants and animals. Has anyone tried this? Does it wok? It would be really nice to be able to sit in my backyard and not get eaten alive. Thanks.

I think that you are mixing concepts. The oil/water does not kill as a poison, but rather smothers emergent mosquitoes in the larvae stage in the standing (existing) water. The oil floats and seals the floating larvae's air supply. IF you have no standing water with eggs, you have no use for the oil. once mosquitoes hatch and are in your face, a bug zapper is the safest way to go???

Apr 27, 2019 - To get rid of mosquitoes in your yard, try putting down some cedar mulch, which will repel mosquitoes and prevent them from nesting near your vegetation. You can also try growing plants that repel mosquitoes, like lemongrass, lavender, citronella, or basil.

  • We use those mosquito coils that you burn, citronella torch fuel, and I just picked up a Thermacell repeller and together we’re not bad off.

If the problem is severe, I would suggest mosquito netting, and Off for decks and backyards.
