I would like to know how to get rid those pesty little sink/drain flies. I've tried baking soda and vinegar, drain cleaners and put plastic over the drains.
I wouldn't, don't see how it would help. Best to have pet dipped, treat your home and lawn and use the pills Vets have to kill fleas.

Is there a cheap household diy pet flea killer?
Please try a Seresto collar. They are priceless. I live in Georgia so fleas and ticks are in abundance here. The collars are about $60.00 a piece but they last for about 8 months! I have 2 dogs and have never seen a flea on them in almost 5 years and if I find tick on them it's dead. You will not regret it.
Yeah, nix the DIY flea killer idea. It takes some big guns to control fleas and ticks. And the consequences can be severe if you aren't successful.

I sprinkle salt or baking soda in my carpet, but don't use it on my pets. It is supposed to dehydrate the fleas. Food grand Diatomaceous Earth can be used on pets and bedding, and in cabinets etc. It is non-toxic to animals and people. It will kill pretty much all insects, including beneficial insects, so I don't use it outside as I don't want to kill the butterflies and bees.
Salt, Kosher salt and/or baking soda can be sprinkled on carpets to kill fleas but do NOT use them on your pets! Leave 24 hours, vacuum thoroughly and immediately dispose of the contents of the vacuum outdoors.
That said, flea control is really difficult once they enter your home!
As others have said, please use a good flea drop or rinse on your kitties and get rx help from the vet for dogs.
You must also treat your home at the same time or all is useless!
Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum! Wash down baseboards and hard surfaces.
Wash all pet bedding and soft toys in hot water and dry on high heat.
If the infestation is bad, fog your home while you and the pets are gone for at least 4 hours (follow label instructions carefully!)
Once your home is free of fleas, keep on treating pets as per directed on your products. This will keep your home free of insects. Best wishes.
