We have done a few things for landscape edging. My favorite is using rocks from around our property, then burying in the ground a little. It was cheap and easy: https://chemistrycachet.com/corner-into-a-cute-little-garden/

I find these examples very attractive.
I have found the plastic edging very ineffective and wavy with installation.
