How can I stencil a microsuede ottomon?

I want to paint a microsuede ottoman a solid color then stencil it using the many colors available with acrylic artist paints. Would I do this by mixing the artist paints with a fabric medium? Does it matter what type of paint I use for the solid color? Any suggestions to make this work should be most appreciated.

no oil paints, and yes you use a fabric medium in the paint. directions should be on the bottle.
Use a fabric paint then look for scotch gard in a can and spray it to stay
