How do you paint a laminate dresser and headboards with out sanding? Someone said to use chalk board paint. Is that true

Get a primer gripper then use the paint on top. Any Sherwin Williams will have the proper paint for laminate. Probably what I used on vinyl which was an acrylic, but check with the experts. Nothing worst than doing all that work and having it peel off.

  • I'd recommend using a bonding primer Stix Primer. It is specially formulated to bond to laminate.

I use fine steel wool to scuff the surface then clean with denatured alcohol to remove any residue. Then it's ready for prime & painting.

I think you might be referring to chalk paint, which is a no prep paint, but in my experience it doesn't hold up well to high traffic areas.
