What do you put around hydrangeas to keep their original color?

The more alkaline the soil is, the pinker your flowers will be. For blue, increase the soil acidity. You didn't state what the original color is so here are a few rules:
Coffee Grounds add acid to the soil
Epsom Salts (magnesium sulfate) and sulfur will not make your flowers change color
Eggshells (aluminum sulfate) 2 Tbsp per plant will help with blue
Wood ash will raise soil pH and make it more alkaline
Garden Lime or high phosphorus fertilizer raises alkaline levels
