Can anyone help me troubleshoot wilting roses?

Before the leaves turn yellow, do they get black spots (or brown spots) on them? What is the soil like? I have had Knockout roses die in heavy clay soil and the yellow leaves are typical of blackspot, a fungus.

Leaves turning yellow is typically a sign of over watering. Have you fertilized at all yet this year?

Well, with the heat in Louisiana this year, didn’t think that over watering could be the problem but, I don’t know anything about roses so it’s a possibility. These are over a year and a half old and had been flourishing .So, it took me by surprise. I have not fertilized this year or since I’ve planted. Didn’t think I needed to because they were doing so well. It seemed this one started all of a sudden. The others near it are still doing well except the one next to it. It looks like it’s about to follow suit. I think I’ll do what you said and try to fertilize. I so appreciate your taking the time to answer and advice. Crossing my fingers. Much thanks.

I have several rose bushes. When we get heavy rain I will begin to see yellow leaves. Also, if you over water them they will attract more bugs.

i also make a habit of cutting the roses when they begin to die because they attract Beatles. If they get in there, they eat all of the leaves.

when there is a lot of rain I put some diatomaceous earth on the entire plant. It is safe for your plant but they will look sad for a couple of days. lol. I don’t cake it on. It’s a powder and i just put it in an old powder bottle and squeeze it and put a cloud of smoke all over. It will blow off in a couple days or the rain will get it the next time.

One final thought.... make sure you are feeding your roses. I had 3 rose ‘stumps that are coming back and I had thought they were gone. They were left from when I bought the house. Anyway, after feeding the other roses for a few years I was excited to see they had all came back this year. I use miracle grow shake for roses with little balls that you shake on the ground around the plants. I used to buy this really inexpensive box of plant fertilizer in a box from Walmart. I used to mix it on my soil in like April or even March where I used to live and I heard the rose bush had never bloomed in all the years the neighbor had lived there and the older lady across the street whispered to me - what’s the secret to your flowers always being so beautiful. I don’t think anyone believed me when I told them I used a 99 cent box of Walmart fertilizer lol. I would still use it but I had broken my leg and my husband thinks you always need to spend a lot of money and he bought the miracle grow. Use it as directed because it can hurt your plants too. Anyway, Now you know everything that I do.

I will I’ll show you a couple of photos of a few of mine. The white with the pink around the edges were thought to be dead. The peach ones are 3 years old. I bought them. I wish that I could easily find you a photo of all of mine on the fence line.

Maybe add some bark mulch to prevent rapid evaporation in a hot climate or sunny area. I would fertilize also.
