This may be a long-term projects.

    1. Remove nuts, berries, and other natural food sources.
    2. Protect your waste.
    3. Close off hiding places.
    4. Install lights in your yard. (Motion detection flood lights work well.)
    5. Use chemicals that repel skunks. Try Ammonia, citrus peels scattered, pepper sprays on trees or where you've seen them.
    6. Install motion-activated sprinklers.
    7. Call an animal control contractor.

    Good luck!

You’ll have to fully fence your yard & stop the food supply the skunks want.

    Plant some hot peppers

  • Well I have a fully fenced yard but they do know how to jump and climb. I have found a few in my fig trees and I almost got sprayed. They also run along the back fence in the spring and summer almost every night. Only way to avoid it is to go out before your dog does and check. I have installed motion lights and have many many solar lights but that doesn't seem to stop them. Animal control (will laugh in your face), at least they do here when people call. They have more important things to do. I have a bunch of dogs myself and I go out first so I don't have to deal with washing them in vinegar and sleeping with stinky dogs. Or try some of the suggested remedies - Mother Nature typically has the upper hand and we just need to co exist peacefully.
