Here's a tutorial on making a mirror out of a ring from a whiskey barrel: http://www.astoriedstyle.com/diy-tutorial-wine-barrel-mirror/

    • Thank you but I was wanting to use just the ring from the whiskey barrel. I had a couple and they have fallen apart and I want to use the biggest ring at the top of the barrel to make a mirror for my fireplace.

here are some ideas for using the strap/ring https://www.pinterest.com/pin/221731981623607006/ more https://www.pinterest.com/pin/413909021973107023 I could not find any video showing how Attaching mirror........ I think you'll need to add 4 pieces of wood 2x2"s (not sure of dimensions since I do not know measurements of strap depth) inside the strap to hold mirror nice and solid -- cut wood into pieces putting them together to form solid square place square inside of metal strap secure solid/firmly with both bolts and adhesive going thru strap into wood then use liquid nails construction adhesive to secure mirror to wood frame inside of strap, leave enuf space so mirror fits into strap on front side, just a little bit to create nice edge. if you use 2 nice iron bolts on outer top sides of strap you could then use those to attach rope or chain or leather strap to hold mirror onto wall you need to hang mirror from sides of strap not back because it will not lie flat on wall it will lean forward use large molly bolt and attach it to stud in wall above fireplace to hang and hold the weight of strap, mirror, wood it will be beautiful most I saw online all used pieces of wood from barrell with strap but the metal strap alone will be nice. hope that all makes sense you won't need many tools good drill, metal drill bits, handsaw for wood, bolts, good construction adhesive, wood pieces check hardware store scrap pile/second hand for pieces since you won't need much.you could buy 2 good thick long old leather mens belts(goodwill) to use for straps to hang it from; remember to add leather straps to side bolts when you put them thru the side of barrell strap into wood frame so it's all together and secure.so piece it all together before you start to secure anything with bolts adhesive. Building the wood square https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwbF9baVlN4&t=184s one more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxvOepMFtbA&t=68s use the liquid nails on wood ends since you'll already have it

I use,Dif wallpaper remover in hot water in a spray bottle. Spray on, keep wet, let it soak in, work in small sections, be patient.
