The local office supply store or big box retailer should have alphabet tab inserts you could use.
Or try cutting post it notes lengthwise. You can tab you page and write a letter on the "flag" that sticks out.
I like using post it note flags that are 1". Plenty of room to write on them. You can get smaller ones if you only want one letter.
I've seen tabbed dividers that have the alphabet on them. If those don't work, some low-profile (like 1/2" tall or so) Post-It's should work.
