How can I decorate an outdoor space with something other than plants?

There is an area on the front lawn that only has shade and never gets watered nor rain. This is due to an overhang on the house. It cannot be watered because it is too close to the house and will cause indoor flooding. Nothing can grow in that area. Any suggestions as to what I can add to that area? It is about 2 ft wide and 12 ft. long.

Hostas might not survive in your cold in pots above ground, but you could always do the Begonias each Spring after Mothers Day(last freeze) if you try Hostas make sure they have all green leaves this variety is best in deep all day shade.

  • First I would look into the water intrusion issues. Even if you think no water gets in, it probably is and causing undetected damage, that if not addressed, could potentially be a hefty repair bill. Maybe even mold remediation.

You can turn that area into a rock garden with some garden art or a little bench and table. Or border off and spread mulch or granite to have it neat clean and tidy.

Thank you. I didn't know mulch came in colors. I should have explained there isn't a whole. It's flush to the foundation so watering isn't recommended. Good ideas. Think I will try the flower pots
