My grandmother grated them up on a cheese grater, put in a cheese cloth with ribbon and used as a potpourri she kept in her dresser drawers.

Put them in little mesh or net bags with small holes. Tie tightly. Then use as loofahs for scrubbing bottoms of feet and patches of dry skin.

I put some in an old single sock (we all have them lying around wondering where the mate ran off?). And Then I use it as a "wash" rag in the shower. It keeps the pieces together while I scrub down. A sock with 4 or 5 end pieces will last as long or longer than a new bar of soap. OR I use some of mine in the garden to keep small mammals away. I use Irish Spring and the deer/squirrels/rabbits hate it and leave that part of our yard alone. I do not mind the deer picking up loose apples, nor the squirrels getting into the orchard, but I do keep them all out of our vegetable garden.
