Has anyone had any luck in splitting a single dresser drawer into 2 while maintaining the look of the drawers?

Can you just put a divider down the center?

If the drawer is deep enough, you can add a tray in it by building a box to fit inside, and then adding some moulding around the edges to keep it afloat towards the top of the drawer.

  • How much DIY skills do you have as it will take quite a bit of modification. A skilled woodworker could do this but might not be worth the effort. Will need to be disassembled, cut in half, including drawers and rebuilt with additional new materials.

I am not sure why you want/need to split a dresser drawer into 2. It would be hard to do without taking it all apart plus adding the extra drawer sliders for 2 drawers vs 1 drawer in the space for one drawer so they could open and close properly. I like the idea of adding a divider inside the drawer or using bins inside the drawer to separate items.
