How can I make a DIY ant killer without borax?

Last year someone sent me a borax and some other combination to get rid of Vance and it worked. But since I don’t have borax now is there any other revenue that is just as good? Thank you

I always use a borax recipe but I know that some people say that peppermint and cinnamon repel ants
