Hi Terena: I grow mint plants, Lemon Mint, Spearmint and Catnip. If you just run your hand up some of the leaves and then rub it on the skin, that seems to keep the bugs away from me. However, with the catnip, the cats want to sit on my lap and play, so I'd avoid that:) Mint grows very easily, and if you get ime, next year you will have a lot. Try planting it in a pot as it is very invasive. Or, you can boil some lemon peals, 2 or 3 lemons worth in about a quart of water, and spritz that on. Good luck
