How can I keep cats from digging in the garden?

  • They are not digging, they are covering their poop. Consider motion activated sprinklers. Many use cayenne and I think it is mean as it can hurt not only the animal you are trying to repel, but wildlife as well.

    Set out moth balls. Another way to deter them is to take gallon jugs and cutting V's at the top, pulling the V's open, then partially fill with water and add several moth balls into it and place about 8 feet apart around your garden. This method is to deter many critters and keeps the chemicals out of the soil. Or fence the garden.

    Plant things they don't like. Here's a list that will help, however Naomie is right, they aren't digging, they are burying their poop. - natural fertilizer. ;) Wishing you the best.

    Hot Pepper or Planting Catnip. Either will create a space to isolate the Pet to a predetermined and assigned Area.

    I mix gumballs from a sweet gum tree into my mulch on top. They hate it.
