Who loves the Dollar Tree? I do! I made this cute farmhouse cake stand for $3 and it was so easy! The hardest part was waiting for the paint to dry!

NOTE: This project may cost you a bit more if you don't already have the paint and glue like I did.

Sometimes while I'm out thrifting, I buy things that I actually don't have any idea what I'm going to use them for. That's what happened with this old cake pan. I just thought it looked old and cool and it was $1, so I got it. Recently I needed to create a dollar store DIY for an Instagram tour I participated in and I remembered I had this pan in the cabinet, and the rest is history!

I ran to Dollar Tree and grabbed the two candle holders you see there above the old cake pan. They were of course $1 each.

NOTE: In hindsight, I know now that I should have glued the two bottom pieces together and then painted them. Why? Some of the glue showed and I needed to paint it orange to match. So, glue first then paint.

At first I thought I wanted the bottom to be white, but really, who was I kidding? I don't have hardly any white anything! White paint, um no, let's do white primer here. :)

Anywhoobs, I spray painted both pieces one thin coat of white and let it dry for 30 minutes.

By then, I had already decided it was not going to be white. I scanned through our stash of spray paints until I found this orange paint! Perfect!

I applied one thin coat of orange, let it dry for 30 minutes and then applied one more thin coat of orange and waited 30 minutes. After they were dry and I could handle them, I noticed I missed a few spots, so I touched those spots up and waited one more time.

I used E6000 glue to adhere all the pieces together. Its awesome glue, but I'm inpatient and hate waiting, so just know its not at all like super glue or even hot glue. When you use this glue, you apply the glue to your item, wait two (2) minutes and then stick them together. I told you I was impatient!

Recap: For the bottom two pieces (candle holders) glue first, then paint. Believe me, it'll turn out better that way! Also, you could use a primer paint instead of white paint to start with. It will help you get a better coverage on the glass holders.

I placed a few of my milk glass treasures in the stand and added a dollar store succulent for cuteness! I really like how it turned out!

You know I'll be looking for old cake pans and things to make bases with next time I go thrifting! This would also be cute beside your sink to hold your soap, brush or sponge in. There are so many thing you can use it for!
