Hi Shirley, immediately I think about small tables with flaps that fold down. Like this one: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/furniture/diy-thursday-antiqued-emerald-side-table-717601
However, I have also seen table that fold away into a drawer that can be pulled out when needed. Very cool. https://mountainmodernlife.com/diy-pull-out-table/

Hi Ikea has a great footing table !!! It folds to about 6-7 inches wide !!! Then you can lift either one or both sides to open it up ! It even has 3 drawers for storing stuff . Also makes great craft table or folding table in the laundry room.
We have a table with 2 fold down leaves. We can raise them to sit 6 or more at the table, but most days it is folded down for 2 or 3 at most. Also, you can get duel tables that serve as a sitting area and fold down into a table and bench. More and more companies are making furniture with duel purposes in mind.
How about a table top that folds down off your wall? This looks super cute (wall art) while maintaining space! https://www.hometalk.com/diy/build/furniture/how-to-make-a-folding-wall-art-table-with-kyle-schuneman-36124056?expand_all_questions=1
How to Make a Folding Wall Art Table With Kyle Schuneman
If the area is really tight perhaps you could think in terms of a dressed up picnic table. First thing that jumped into my mind was two benches where the backs fold up and form the table top. There are plans out there you just have to weed thru them and find a style that fits your style and skill level.
