  • Hi there. I used to stencil my walls all the time and always used acrylic craft paint. Once it's dry it's washable and won't come off until you paint over it. I used to use DecorArt, or Folk Art paints, but you can use any brand, they're all essentially the same. This video shows a latex wall paint, which you can also use. I just used to use the craft paints since they were inexpensive and I could buy them in virtually any color and in small containers since I didn't need a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8p8VXM5XyM

    • Hi there, I've never purchased a spray adhesive at Home Depot, I have always picked it up at the craft store (Michael's, JoAnn, Hobby Lobby) in the paint aisle. They may carry it at Home Depot, just make sure it's made for that purpose. Hope that helps!

    Hi Kasia,

I used small sample sizes of kitchen latex paint when I did my kitchen stencils. The kitchen paint is made to be washable and with the sample sizes you don't need to buy a lot. I hope that helps. Wishing you the best.

    Thank you very much Linda

your answer is very helpful though I don’t know where you can buy paint samples.

In Montreal where I live I think one have to buy full size, quite expensive ( Home Depot)

    best regards

Check out You Tube for project videos. I've learned a lot there.
