How do I get rid of gnats?
How to get rid of gnats in the home that are in my house plants? I've put them outdoors and it isn't helping. Gnats are everywhere. I've used peroxide. It slowed them down but that is all. Help!!

We use a bowl of vinegar with a drop of dish soap. Cover it with plastic wrap and poke a few holes in it with a knife, they go in and drown.
Hi Kimberli, I used to manage a bar and we got them from the beer tap sink. I bought hot shot no pest strips. They work so well that I still use them at home. Here is a link to check them out.

If they are in the plants, they are fungal gnats. You need to repot them with new soil and trash the old and not reuse it. Clean out the pot with bleach water and after rinsing and drying, rinse with vinegar and let it sit for a while to kill the fungal spores. Rinse the vinegar off well before repotting the plants. Rinse the plants and roots gently with tepid water just incase some gnats or eggs are present on them. Put out the vinegar and soap attractant to kill any remaining gnats, use a fly strip in the area if there are still a lot flying around. If the plants aren't repotted before you bring them inside, you may get more gnats in the house, so try to take care of the flies in the house before you repot and bring them inside.
Also to above answer about clean soil I sprayed mine with diluted dawn A few drops in a sprayer or make some in a bin and rinse roots and plant with that. I received a plant from a flower shop when my mom passed away. It wasn’t long and I noticed it was covered with them. I have had it now for 5 years since doing this
I had a terrible gnat problem and the vinegar traps worked perfectly! Simply place a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar, a few drops of dish soap, and a tablespoon of sugar in a bowl and stir. Set your bowl in an area where gnats are prevalent, such as near your plants that are infested. This took care of my problem in just a couple of days!
