Hi, Elaine,
Can you maybe detail what is in your garden, and what kind of items you are thinking of?
Good soil, plenty of sun and good drainage.
Composted soil!! Or fertilizer from cows or chickens.
Good sunlight, water, and good soil. I would get a soil test done at your local agricultural agent (for free) before doing anything, since you can improve your soil to the optimum condition by adding the right amenities/chemicals.
Make sure you buy seeds, seedlings, plants that will thrive in YOUR ganden's conditions by speaking with the sales people at your nursery or plant supplier.
Hi Elaine, you want a south exposure for good sunlight, and if you can collect rainwater for watering that would be great too, plants seem to love fresh rain so much they thrive with it. And some good fertilizer, like the stinky fish (fish emulsion)one or something like miracle grow. Honestly, miracle grow is easier to deal with. Make sure your soil is rich for the plants to thrive, you can add in I have attached a video on how to enrich your soil,
