Charlene....I have primed and painted and worked great for me.
Hi, Charlene!
Priming and painting is definitely an inexpensive option... Just make sure to clean the paneling using dishsoap and water or TSP (tri-sodium phosphate) before priming! I hope this helps!
We bought a home that was all cheap panel. Some of it was warped. We filled the cracks with calking then primed the wood with aroma-free Kilz primer paint. Then we painted each room as we wanted. The warped wood we did a 3 hue sponge paint (we actually used waded plastic shopping bags to sponge paint it). Then we added a wallpaper border at the top. It was beautiful and you could not tell it had once been paneling! If we could do it, anyone can. It is a lot of work, but it is not hard to do.
I thought one had to fill in the panel with calk to do away with the lines. That way it looked like a regular wall. Thanks for any help.
