  • Well I used a foundation specialist. My mom's house is not quite yet 100 years old, but we live in earthquake country and over the years, life happens. 2" is a huge disparity, I would certainly consider a few consults with foundation contractors. Here is how to hire any contractor you will ever need.

Once you are sure of the foundation and future settling issues, if you don't want to put down new sub flooring you can purchase a floor leveler product that you pour.

Thank you all. We have a stone foundation. We have reinforced structural supports in basement but structural engineers have warned us no try to level floors by raising. (Breaking windows and wall problems.) Believe we have stabilized foundation.

Thinking we going to use some form floor leveling liquid. Any suggestions about what kind?

You need to have the house leveled and replace/repairs made to the support posts/piers that are currently under the house.

On tv I've seen it done with wood by cutting appropriately sized wedges, attaching to current floor, then laying new subfloor. I'd not have the ability to figure out how to do it but they use either a laser line or string, then do careful measurements and subsequently careful cuts on wedges. I don't know what to do if the low spot hits an exterior door, if that makes sense...just raise the threshold, I guess. For slabs they pour self-leveling concrete.
