Cornmeal- they will eat the cornmeal then die. The can not take the bloating. To detour the ants, it may help, sprinkle Comet or salt around the outside of the house especial near their entrance.

  • Hi Linda - Those little buggers are relentless, aren't they?!? This is the most effective method and all-natural spray DIY that we use with ants. It's best indoors, but will also work outside with more frequent applications. It's even been featured on Hometalk! Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

I was able to remove carpenter ants from my home after TWO visits from an exterminator failed! Easy peasy!

Mix 50/50 table sugar and Borax

Place along their paths, entry points, under sinks, etc. (if you have pets or small kids you may want to put it inside a small Chinese take out container with holes poked around the bottom)

This kills them by: eating through their exoskeleton, poisons them (Borax) and kills off the entire nest as they then feed the dead to the nursery.

Do be aware that like many non-chemical methods you may see an increase in ant activity as they become aware of the awesome 'treat' they're being fed. Don't worry - it is effective. 😎
