How do I clean an interior barn door?

This is an interior barn door, from our barn grainary. Never outside. I want to install it is house mud room. Brushed surface, then used slightly damp cloth, but colour came off on the cloth. Don’t want “perfect”, but it needs to be clean. Have original hardware as well, suggestions on how to clean it also welcome

Try cleaning with furniture product like OrangeGlo. It sounds like you might need to seal it as well.
