My personal preference is to use a white vinegar solution rather than toxic bleach. Bleach and food don't mix, and if any trace is left, anything you place back in the refrigerator will be spoiled.

Turn gridge off, empty out fridge, sprinkle baking soda on all shelves & use vinegar to activate. Remember your volcano making days. Let sit for awhile & using hot water clean it thoroughly.
