my iris'have bloomed, now do i cut the stems to the ground or leave them, or will they bloom again this summer or fall?
You can clip the leaves after they’ve browned or just let them go.only certain iris rebloom otherwise you won’t see them again for another year
They need to wither naturally. These will help.
Depends on what type of iris you have, some are once and done, yet others rebloom.
You are most welcome Kathy! You do the same. 🌞
Hi Kathleen: I cut mine about 1/2 way down when they stop flowering, if they are not the reblooming type. Then, in the fall, take one stalk, bend it towards the ground and push it backwards. You should hear a bit of a crack and it should break off at ground level and you won't be pulling the tubers out of the ground:) You can do this with a variety of tall flowers in the fall. That way you don't have all of those little sticks poking up out of the ground:) Good luck
You are more than welcome. I have Bee Balm, and bend and crack the stems in the fall. I don't like those short sticks poking up, one because they're ugly and two, because the critters who roam the yard get stuck in the tummy, and that's not nice:)
