How can I make a vintage milk can water tight?

I am refinishing a vintage milk can that I would like to place in my backyard. I intend to use a good sealer on the can, but I want to make sure it is watertight so that water doesn't get inside the can. Anyone ever done this with success? I would love some ideas. Thank you!

I don’t know how large the can is, or what part you want to seal, but you can buy clear silicone caulking.

You could always place a light source inside the can in a darkened room to be able to find any possible pinholes in the can or areas that need sealing

I would use a marine epoxy finish for the most water resistance.

I do NOT intend to open the can. I just wanted to make sure water wouldn't get inside if it was sitting out in the rain. Maybe with the lids on they are already watertight. These cans have the lids on straight and they appear to be tight so I might try the putty or caulking around the rim just to be on the safe side. Thank you!
