Can you help me with some measurements so I can organize towels?

Can some one give me the measurements for folded or rolled bath towels in a wire or wicker cube? Also, for folded towels on a curio shelf? I know towels vary in size, but a near guess would be great.

    Hi Christy,

As you stated, it depends on the size of the towel. Even standard bath towels vary in size. According to "google" the "standard" bath towel is 27" x 52". Then it depends on how you fold them. I learned to fold them in thirds so mine would be 9" across but my hubby folds his in half so his would be 13 1/2" across. I then fold the length mine in quarters for storage so mine would be 13" folded but if I have to make something fit, I'd fold it in half, then in thirds. So that would make my length a little under 9". Then there is the issue of thickness when you roll them. I'd fold mine in thirds then roll them but the thickness will affect the rolled measurement. I hope this helps a bit. Wishing you the best.

It also depends how you habitually fold or roll them. Most people fold in half and half again, but others fold the long side in thirds and then in half. Shelves would need to be as deep as the largest towel you plan to store.

I would suggest to first take a towel the size and thickness that you prefer and to use that as a guide for building or buying your shelves or storage unit. Build or find storage containers that fit what you like. Take one towel with you when you are shopping, to ensure that the depth and height of the shelves will be a good fit for what suits you.

If you start with an arbitrary measurement that others suggest, it may be difficult to fit the size and thickness of towels that you prefer into the unit.
