How should I proceed with this succulent that is growing really tall?

I've never grown succulents before but this one is getting way too tall and wants to fall over. I keep propping it up with sticks. Am I supposed to cut it back or let it go? It now has a lot of buds on the top. I don't even know what it's called.

These are the seed pods and hopefully will bloom. After it blooms and turns crunchy you can cut it back but if you had a larger flatter clay container these seeds would fall and create new plants. I had thousands of succulents when living in San Diego and would group different varieties in flatter clay pots with various colors and blooms and it was beautiful

We cut back our succulent that did the same, but you could tie it to a prop you put down in the pot, if you like. It depends on if you want it to bloom etc.

That is a bloomstalk. You can cut it off if it bothers you. It's actually beautiful to look at but at the same time, drains energy from the plant so the plant actually stops growing.
