Can i use loose laid vinyl flooring on interior stair treads

  • Hi, Katie!

Are you referring to sheet vinyl or vinyl planks? Sheet vinyl would have to be secured to the treads using adhesive in order to eliminate a slipping hazard. As long as the vinyl is properly secured, there’s no reason it could not be used! I hope this helps!

Any vinyl needs to be glue down. Will slip and curl.

The vinyl plank flooring I just installed downstairs also has a stair tread option to match.

You would have to glue it down with a good adhesive and then use some metal edging on the front of the stair tread to keep it from curling up on the front edge.

As long as it is secured it's okay but if it moves at all, it is a trip hazard.
