Teresa...Try a solution of hot water and a non-ammonia based cleaner. Spray and scrub with a stiff brush. You may need an old toothbrush for small areas. Good luck!

I would try a solution of dish soap & vinegar. Make sure they are dry after. Maybe use a fan to dry them. Sounds like they should be sealed. He paint product called Zinzer will seal in after you clean and prevent mildew Mold.

If it is only on the surface, removing it with soapy water , vinegar and a good scrubbing will remove it. Make sure the cause of the moisture has been fixed and you have good sir circulation. If it has worked it's way into the finish, I would strip it down and refinish it.

To remove mildew from wood cabinets, paneling, or furniture, vacuum the loose spores with the soft brush attachment. Then, clean small areas using a well-wrung cloth dipped in a few squirts of dishwasher detergent and a gallon of water. Rinse with a clean, water-dampened cloth and dry immediately with a fan. Don't oversaturate the wood, as it could warp and damage the finish. If a cloudy film forms, wipe the area with mineral spirits. Otherwise, apply a thin coat of Good Housekeeping Seal holder Weiman Furniture Polish to restore the shine and protect the finish.

This seems to be the answer from all the sites to git rid of the mildew. But the big thing is after be sure the wood is dry and sealed so no more moisture gets in. That is your breading ground. Good luck.
