Dee Dee....I would suggest you talk with other dog owners and get their ideas.

  • It could be a medical condition or some sort of anxiety. I would schedule an appointment with the vet.

As Ann wrote above be sure there isn't a medical reason. Then try the following:

Walk your sweet doggie after feeding, and a minimum of at least a few walks every day. Get some small treats to give when they pee/poo outside. Reward, pet and praise your dog when they do their thing outside. Take a few minutes to play.

Get a good system for inside too. There are some nice ones that use artificial turf or the large pee pads. Put the set up where your pet has the most "accidents".

Crate training can be a useful tool to calm your pet. Read the reasons why it works. Most dogs thrive with a place of their own.

A dog trainer can help you and your dog determine a good routine for success. Local humane societies or big box pet stores have reasonably priced trainers that are quite helpful.

Having there own doggie door so they can go in and out when they need too helps. Provided you have a fenced in yard. But I agree with the other ladies make your fur babie has no medical issues.

  • How old is your dog? Are there any underlying medical issues? How long have you had this dog? What breed? And did you ever spend the time to properly house train the dog?

I have 6 and all are housebroken. They also have a doggie door and have been trained to use a certain portion of the yard to do their business. I can provide tips but need to know what you have done so far.

Thank you all so much for replying to my email. Miss Lily died on Thursday from cancer. She has gone over the rainbow.
