What can do to keep stray animals from pooping on my grass?

I line in a condo development. I don’t want to use mothballs, they’re too toxic. I can’t use the spray/powders from Home Depot/Lowe’s...not only do they get costly—-the ingredients are too strong & cause me to choke, plus it gets washed away from the rain & has to be reapplied.

We’ve had a rainy season here.

I’ve tried to use a mixture of Fabuloso lavender deodorizer & some water to deter them, but they only end up going near the area again!!

I can’t use red pepper flakes. Did that once & it burned the grass & vegetation.

Please help!!

I would really appreciate some helpful at-home ingredients that will deter the animals.

I’ve even heard of tying a CD to something, but tat would only get in the way of landscapers.

Thank you!!

Are you allowed to put up any kind of fence in your condo development? Of all the things you can try that would be the most successful.

No. Even if I could, they could burrow underneath or climb over it. They would have and would find another area. One time, they pooped on my deck in the corner a few times. I had to put down plastic runners, pointy side up. Took care of the problem!

Hi Janine, The only thing I can think of that would keep animals away without reapplying, would be plants that a specific animal doesn't like. My guess is that you have no control over what plants are on the property. I'm also guessing that you can't put up your own fence, and even if you could, some animals could burrow beneath it . I'd suggest taking your list of animals to a local nursery or the Cooperative unit in your area to seek their help. Wishing you the best.

      Hi Janine,

I agree that mothballs shouldn't be used since they are so toxic. If they are in open property, keep the potted plants away from your home. I haven't heard of them attracting flies, but you never know what will happen sometimes. Here's a comprehensive article about keeping cats out of your yard with several different ideas. Maybe one of them will help you. Good luck!

Can you put out a motion sensor sprinkler. Works great.

I would have to ask my Homeowner’s Association if they will allow it. Thanks!
