Could you put a cap stone on top of your stacked iron ore wall, it could even be a thick row of concrete pavers set in some mortar or drill into the wall and set some rebar to hold the extension on. I would pre-drill holes to put some threaded bolts for fastening the fence extension on top. You could paint it to match your stone color or stain it. The pavers themselves could be stained with mason's dye.
Then build a wooden frame with holes on the bottom to secure it onto the bolts, and then cover the frame with lattice or some 1.5 - 2" boards horizontal across the frame with a gap that I like better and is more modern looking.

You will need a hammer drill with mason bit, rebar, thread bolts, paver row, mason's dye, wood stain, and your lumber. You can rent those hammer drills.
