Girls young & old LOVE vanities!

& when you find the right shape - just paint it to match your decor!

This vanity had seen better days, but now it’s ready for her close up!

Well guys, this is how I found her!

Scuffed up, missing hardware & a very outdated design.. but those curves!!! *swoon*

I just knew she had to be dressed in white!

Dixie Belle Paint Company & Flea Market Decor Magazine teamed up and launched a limited edition paint line that’s to die for!

So Aged Ivory was my go-to for this one!

I grabbed my brush and jar of paint and 2 coats later.. here she is!

A little trick, I always keep my brush damp while painting, it just helps the paint glide better without having such hard lines.

A misty bottle is perfect for this, you have complete control over how much water you want to apply.

Dixie Belle Paint is self leveling & dries quick, so even with a white color going over such a dark starting point, the coverage is amazing!

I prefer to take the drawers out when painting a piece like this, just to make sure I get inside where the drawer lines up and that there is a consistent color. Sometimes you can see the inner lining and I definitely didn’t want any trace of that old grungy finish!

You know I love to distress my work, even if it’s just around the edges, I just can’t help it!

I took a 100 grit sand paper and hit all around the frame, detailed sides, front lip of the top and a little bit on those legs where they would normally scuff.

Once I achieved what I was going for, I lightly buff the entire piece with a 220 Sanding sponge to get that smooth finishing coat.

Now onto the wax!

Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Dark Brown with a little bit of clear to work it together..

Get into the groove..

(totally just sang that song out loud as I wrote this lol)

But seriously, grab a cheap chip brush and some wax and jab it all in the grooves, after wipe back with a rag..

This gives an old dirty look, but that’s what I’m going for!

I take my rag and with the access wax, I wipe it all over the surfaces.. This is where your creativeness comes in.. you can add more or less again, or just leave it only in the crevices.. Completely up to you! I just prefer an all over dirtied up piece for this on

Time to seal all this “hard” work!

Dixie Belle Gator Hide was definite for this makeup vanity! With all the high traffic, possible spillage and cleanup, I wanted to make sure she had a rock solid top coat!

Dampen the brush and away we go, I put 3 thin coats on the top for this. (Just 1 quick one on the body)

She’s ready for her close-up!

New chunky antique hardware replaced the old/missing set, which plays off the dark brown wax perfectly!

Like night & day the difference a couple products can do!

The wax highlights her curves that were lost when we found her. Sometimes that extra little step just brings your project to life!

Another project with a handful of products!

Happy Painting!
